A. Johnson & Lou Charcoal can last almost indefinitely, provided that you keep it in a cool, dry place. If the bricks become damp, they will be very hard to light. It is important that you not expose the brick to moisture.
A. No way! Many instant-light charcoals use solvents but not Johnson & Lou. We are dedicated to helping you create a great tasting meal. You donāt want solvents in your food, do you?
A. We use a proprietary, FDA-approved technology.
A. Probably not. It's really important to not get the product wet.
A. Don't do it. There are different kinds of charcoal. Use "activated charcoal" for deodorizing. This can be obtained at select health food stores, plant nurseries, pet stores.
A. We don't recommend it. Use Johnson & Lou to cook, not to fertilize.
A. Our bricks can stay hot for about 1* hours. That's more than twice as long as traditional briquets and adds up to a lot more hotdogs, hamburgers, and grilling fun.
A. Absolutely, vents on a covered grill are very important for regulating grilling temperature. Control the grill temperature by adjusting the vents. Opening them increases the temperature, closing them (partially or completely) may "cool down" a fire that is too hot.
A. Absolutely not. We donāt use solvents or any other toxin in our product. Thatās just one of the many reasons it's so revolutionary.
A. About 350 degrees Fahrenheit. And thatās a consistent 350 degrees. Most charcoals deliver very inconsistent temperatures, spiking early on and then declining fast. Johnson & Lou holds a relatively consistent temperature over the entire 1* hour burn time. We help you cook a better meal.
